Canada’s Revenue Agency (CRA) has provided suggested guidance on e-invoicing in 2018. This is based on the UBL model (see below). The format is only voluntary.

Universal Business Language (UBL)
UBL is an open directory of electronic documents used for procurement and freight. They are XML-based. The cover: purchase orders, invoices, transport documents and waybills. It was created by various industry sector agencies, coordinated by the OASIS technical committee. In 2018, Canada, the US and Mexico subcommitte created the first e-invoice format.
