Slovakia is launching public register of the bank account of VAT registered businesses from 2022. Failure by customers to then check these accounts would result in joint and several VAT liabilities. The aim is to require customers to ensure they only pay any VAT into recognised accounts and help reduce VAT fraud.

Taxpayers to report on bank accounts
Slovakia is following Poland which runs a similar listing of approved taxpayer bank accounts. The requirements include:
- Taxpayers must provide the Slovak authorities with details of their business bank accounts for listing
- Customers must refer to this database to check when making bank transfers that the account is listed with the tax authorities
- Failure to do this could result in shared liabilities for the customer for any missing VAT
